** Update 11-1-07 2:20pm**
When making out your Christmas cards this year, please add the following to your list.
A Recovering American Soldier c/o Walter Reed Army Medical Center 6900 Georgia Avenue,NW Washington,D.C. 20307-5001
If your boys are interested in wrestling, Monty Emory is taking over Westmoore. Tyler wrestled for Monty (Moore Huricanes) last year and did better than he did the previous 3 years at the old Westmoore program; Tyler placed at state. Monty runs a great program and has good wrestling coaches. Signups are actually Thursday, but we have football practice. The first practice is Monday at 6pm; and you can signup then. You have to pay $25 (USA Wrestling card and Insurance) before your kid can get on the mat in practice. The team fee is $75, due in 2 weeks from Monday. Tournaments are every weekend, but you don't have to go to every tournament. Tournaments are usually $10 each. Signlets (wrestling uniform) are usually $30 or so; wrestling shoes are as expensive as you want them to be. Some of the kids will sell their old singlets and shoes each year since they outgrow them, so that is an option. You can practice in shorts and t-shirt.
Wrestling has novice and open tournaments. You wrestle novice for 2 years and then go to open. No experience needed. Monty and his coaches will teach kids all they need to know. Plus the conditioning is great.
Monty's 8yo Hurricane team is still in contention in the Moore Bowl and All-City, so he understands that other boys playing football will probably miss some practices until after All-City.
Highlights of the Cowboys and Wildcats game are online now.
Moore Bowl bracket is on the schedule page.
Pictures, Tuesday (Oct 30) night at 6pm. Jeans and Jerseys.
Those players that have completed at least 500 pushups and 500 situps will be recieving their Lions 500 Club shirts. This does not mean you should stop doing them; every player should be doing their pushups and situps daily. Only the players that have reported pushups and situps numbers and are listed on the Lions 500 Club page will be counted. Images of the shirts are now posted on the Lions 500 Club page.
For those that don't know, my brother (Jason Addison) owns the Quiznos on SW 104th and Western. We are doing a special right now for Moore Youth Football/Baseball Players until October 31st. On game day, the player and his family gets 10% off; player must be in uniform (football pants are good enough; don't have to have your pads on). We are also going to be offering Moore/SW OKC baseball and football teams the ability to earn sponsership money by providing team cards to pass out to friends, family, co-workers, etc. When that person present the card with a purchase, the card will be attached to the receipt and each month the team will receive 5% of the total sales. We will only have a select number of spots for team participation, so if you or anyone you know has a team that wants to participate, have them contact me.
Parents, if you email (david@MooreLionsDen.com) the # of pushups and # of situps your player has done, I will add them to the Lions 500 club page.
If anyone has any pictures of the practices or games that they would like to share, please email them to me (david@morelionsden.com) to post on the website.
Greg's Photography has pictures posted for sale from our games:
